Trade Stands and Exhibitions

New for 2008, this year’s conference featured a number of displays for delegates to have the benefit of during the breaks. These included works being undertaken within the Moray Firth area to protect and enhance the water environment and to implement the Water Framework Directive in Scotland. Others feature the restoration of the Salmon Bothy at Portsoy, proposed developments at the Thornbush quay in Inverness and Whiteness at Ardersier, Moray Firth scenes by Scotavia, an aerial photographer, the work of Ithaca, the Marine Conservation Society, The Co-operative Food and of course the ubiquitous plastic carrier bags.

Co-operative Food handed out free cotton shopping bags, trolley bags and compostable carriers to delegates.

During lunch break a video with part of the film “A message in the Waves” by Rebecca Hoskings, the BBC wildlife photographer who led the town of Modbury to become plastic bag free. This film footage showed some of the effects of plastic on our wildlife and how important it is for a reduction in plastic and coastal litter.
