Heritage

Celebrating and protecting our local heritage is important to maintain a connection to the landscape and history of the Moray Firth. We have previously undertaken the Moray Firth Gansey Project with key aims to find, record and conserve gansey patterns from around the Moray Firth coast, pass on the skills to a new generation and increase local income generation, training and employment

Further information on the project can be found here

Many of the settlements have a rich cultural heritage, with a history that is linked to the changing fortunes of fishing communities, and dotted around the coastline of the Moray Firth you will find a number of local community museums and heritage centres. It is vital that these collections are preserved and made available to all with an interest in the history of the local area.
