MFP Manager Vacancy
Closing date: 22nd September 2015
Now that Scotland’s National Marine Plan has been published, it is anticipated that the MFP’s main focus over the next few years will be on working with a range of stakeholders to help identify and define regional marine planning options for the Moray Firth area (this being one of eleven Scottish Marine Regions for which sub-national Marine Plans are to be developed). The new manager will be involved early in the process and will have a chance to lead the company forward as this new work phase develops and as the future role of the MFP in regional marine planning becomes more clearly defined. Please pass on this notice to anyone that may be interested.
The MFP is looking for a self-starter with well-developed skills in company and resource management who is experienced in working pro-actively with other stakeholders across different sectors. Significant knowledge of a relevant subject, such as marine, coastal or environmental management, marine science, or terrestrial planning along with knowledge of the Moray Firth area is desirable. The post holder will be responsible to the MFP Board of Directors for managing a wide-ranging and challenging workload including fund-raising and communications. The staff team generally comprises 1.6FTE staff with additional part-time contracted-in project and administrative support.
This post is seconded through Scottish Natural Heritage, but MFP staff require to actively maintain the MFP’s independent and neutral status, separate to SNH and to other funders. SNH is a supportive and committed employer, and is the leading public body responsible for looking after Scotland’s natural heritage.
