Historical and Cultural

The Moray Firth has a wonderfully rich heritage with a wealth of cultural heritage sites, monuments, artefacts and traditions.  The area has strong Neolithic, Pictish, Celtic, Viking, medieval and Jacobite associations, as well as more recent heritage relating to the Highland Clearances, the Herring boom (the area has largest collection of fishing communities in Scotland), sea trade and the Hanseatic League, the legacy of two World Wars and the oil boom.
