BBC Beachwatch films "Breathing Spaces"

BBC 1 promotion for beach/marine events

Great news - from Monday 14th July, The One Show is running a Beachwatch season, to encourage people to explore the marine environment. The Breathing Places website includes a range of supporting material. The Team are also hoping to offer the public the chance to find out about local beach events near and are currently gathering information on beach events coming up this summer.  As soon as there are enough events in the database, they'll open that search option to the public.

The five short marine-based films covered by the One Show films will include:
Rockpooling versus Snorkelling on Monday 14th July,  Sandhoppers at night and swallows on Tuesday 15th July,  Seaweed and beach combing Wednesday 16th July, Wildflowers and cliff-top chuffs on Thursday 17th July and Seabirds on Friday 18th July.

Linking into The One Show activity, Breathing Places has produced a pocket guide filled with exciting ways that audiences can engage with marine wildlife. The booklet includes a fantastic ‘Rockpool bingo’ game along with lots of other ideas to inspire people to try a beach-based Do One Thing activity in their area, from beachcombing to snorkelling.

Both the pocket guide and bingo game will be downloadable from the Breathing Places website from Monday 14th July.
The website will also feature lots of other information about marine habitats and how audiences can make the most of them http://www.bbc.co.uk/breathingplaces .

The One Show will also be encouraging the public to attend a marine event near them.
